2014 Sauvignon Blanc
The North Fork of Long Island
A refreshing, light-bodied, grapefruity Sauvignon Blanc. Alcohol by volume: 12.5%. Closure: screwcap.
Zesty, clean and light-bodied, with aromas of just-squeezed grapefruit, freshly-cut grass and minerality. The wine's bright acidity enhances ifs fruit flavors and contributes to its long length and finish.
White wines from the 2014 vintage are rich in sugar and show ripe aromas and good acidity (low pH).
The 2014 vintage was notable for both high yields and excellent quality. Bud break was two weeks late because the soil didn't warm up early enough after a very wet, snowy winter. The grapes' maturity accelerated during the summer, wich was warm, never hot, and dry. The vines did not struggle and the foliage remained green. all season. September was dry, warm and sunny, so the growing season was long and allowed the fruit to develop well. There was just enough rain in October and no frost.
The grapes were destemmed, fermented in stainless steel, cool fermented at 58-60F, and stabilized with sterile filtration and fined with Isinglass. pH: 3.17, RS <0.2%, total acidity: 6.03.
